Golden season for a Paradise Valley getaway

Cycling on a beautiful day, hiking the sunny plateau, challenging a via ferrata or an ultra-running trail. Now is the right time! As grape harvest begins in the vineyards, paragliders are enjoying excellent thermals and the summer vibe hasn't yet faded in the cities. All along the way, opportunities for culinary pamperings are calling. Paradise Valley feels different, even this time of year.

Experience new routes, discover lovely trails

Late summer is a gift from nature. This special time of year, beginning in the Paradise Valley with the grape harvest and ending as the young wine ripens in the cellars, is simply perfect for outdoor activities. In the Vipava Valley and Goriška, blessed with a pleasant Mediterranean climate, you'll find great opportunities for active recreation. Cycling enthusiasts will delight in the variety of trails, choosing tours through the valley, the vineyard hills, or daring legendary climbs to the Trnovo Forest Plateau. MTB trails let passionate bikers chase adrenaline, while family cycling in the Paradise Valley is always easygoing and carefree. Many cycling trails are featured on our Vipava Valley Outdoor app, alongside hiking trails and tips for hikes of varying difficulty. Have you walked the famous Trail along the Edge, climbed to the Skozno natural bridge or on Mt Mali Golak, at 1495 m the highest peak in the Trnovo Forest? These trails are famous for their beautiful views. The broadest horizons open up during a paragliding flight, from the Lijak and Kovk take-off sites where you can soar in tandem with a seasoned pilot, experiencing Paradise Valley from a bird's eye perspective across the Julian Alps, the Friuli Plain and the Adriatic Sea. For thrill-seekers, bungee jumping from the Solkan Bridge over the Soča River is another hit. In Nova Gorica and surroundings, you can reach the starting points with our new hop-on & hop-off bus line, while Ajdovščina and nearby offer the free Bicibus transport service taking you and your bike to the Trnovo Forest Plateau. Choose excitement or leisure at your own pace. In the Paradise Valley, there's always something for everyone.

Enjoy the luxury of genuine flavours

The Vipava Valley and Goriška are famous as a foodie destination. It's the unique Vipava Valley wines, top-notch restaurants and authentic agritourism farms that make visitors return to these places time and again. This is also because the flavours change with each season, offering unique specialties. During the grape harvest, tradition that accompanies this celebrated farming activity adds to the charm. No local festival – and the grape harvest is certainly one – is complete without prosciutto from the Vipava Valley. This time of year, the finest fruits of nature arrive to the valley's cellars where they will soon mature into excellent wines. The wealth of grape varieties, including indigenous ones, has long made the Vipava Valley a fabled wine country. When your active experiences are done, visit a local winemaker and discover the secrets of their underground cellars. In each wine drop, in the snacks paired with the tastings and the personal stories, you'll discover a piece of the Paradise Valley, especially charming in late summer.
