Grass Mowing Festival

The Banjšice Grass Mowing Festival is a traditional event that has been preserving rural customs, farm work, and the social life of the Banjšice Plateau for 39 years.

The event, organized by the Banjšice Tourism Association, will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Banjšice. This year’s event will also mark an important anniversary: 45 years since the famous 88-hour work marathon, during which the locals laid the foundations for today’s event venue.

Visitors can look forward to a varied program for all ages, including demonstrations of agricultural and forestry machinery, horse competitions, demonstrations of manual haymaking and hay harvesting, farm games, presentations by local associations, an exhibition and sale of homemade baked goods, and a raffle.

The evening will conclude with a get-together accompanied by music, with the band Gas Kras and the evening’s special guest, Damjan Murko, providing music for dancing and entertainment.

The Grass Mowing Festival is an opportunity for pleasant socializing, learning about local traditions, and experiencing the authentic rural atmosphere of Banjšice.
