Festival of Roses

For all true lovers of the rose, 25. 4. – 17. 5. 2026

In Nova Gorica, each year from late April all the way to the end of May, a popular festival is taking place dedicated to the flower of all flowers – the rose.

The centre of happenings is the garden of the Kostanjevica Franciscan Monastery, boasting a famous collection of antique, marvellously fragrant Bourbon roses, presenting most of their 80 known varieties. During the festival visitors can take part in expertly guided tours, exhibitions, lectures and creative rose-themed workshops. The city will surprise you with remarkable floral configurations and reward you with an amazing culinary offer, and the chance to relax surrounded by roses.

Take your time, enjoy the spring, visit Nova Gorica and choose your favourite charming experiences.

Events in the Garden:
April 25 at 3:30 p.m. – Poetry reading dedicated to roses
May 8 at 4:00 p.m. – Book presentation by Eva Nedelko: Intuition in Aromatherapy
May 9 at 7:30 p.m. – Concert among the peonies: Tatjana Mihelj
May 10 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Exhibition of gourmet perfumes and rose-scented workshops
May 15 at 12:00 PM – Demonstration of rose distillation
May 16 at 3:30 PM – Announcement of the winners of the poetry contest and poetry reading
May 17 at 11:00 AM – Walk through the city’s rose gardens, concluding at the Bourbon rose collection

Events in the Cellar of Friendship and Peace:
May 8 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM – Small wine festival with a touch of roses
May 9 at 7:30 PM – Post-concert gathering in the wine cellar
May 10 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Wine tastings and opportunity to purchase rose-based products
