The approximately 9-kilometer-long hiking tour starts in the village of Miren, where you can park your car at the parking lot next to the football field. From there, the path leads toward the hamlet of Vrtoče. To the south, you’ll be accompanied by views of the spiritual center of Mirenski Grad with its impressive Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, while to the north, the slow flow of the Vipava River follows you along the way. Upon arriving in Vrtoče, the trail turns south and begins to climb through the forest toward the Karst Plateau, ascending to the hill of Cerje. At the edge of the hill stands a mighty stone tower – the Cerje Monument of Peace, built in memory of all defenders of Slovenian land. Here, you can take a break and enjoy magnificent views that stretch from the Alps all the way to the Adriatic Sea. From the monument, the forest path continues northward and gradually descends back into the valley, returning to the starting point.
The trail is of moderate difficulty, suitable for hikers with basic physical fitness, and ideal for those who enjoy nature and exploring cultural heritage.
